The Dredging Committee is an advisory committee to the Board of Selectmen, the Harbor Advisory Committee and the Finance Committee. The responsibilities and duties of the committee include:
Working with the Harbormaster to develop a master plan for harbor maintenance.
Engaging with state government to encourage state support for harbor dredging
Propose modifications to state laws that will encourage additional funding for waterways dredging.
Working with the Finance Committee to develop a plan to fund harbor dredging.
Working with the Harbor Advisory Committee to establish mooring policies consistent with the master plan.
Engaging the harbor community during development and implementation of the master plan.
Periodic review on on-going dredging projects, plans, and permits.
The committee should consist of no fewer than seven members and should include representatives from:
The Harbor Advisory Committee (preferably a sitting member of HAC)
The Finance Committee (preferably a sitting member of the FC)
At least one sailboat owner well known to the harbor sailing community
At least one powerboat owner well known to the harbor boating community
At least one member from a mooring services organization.
