BOS WEEKLY UPDATE – January 18, 2018
Welcome to Christina St. Pierre as our new Town Clerk: Next time you are in Town Hall stop by the Clerk's Office to welcome Christina. And no doubt you will see Retired Town Clerk Denise Samolchuk around town looking a bit more relaxed!
Our 375th Anniversary: In 2020 the Town turns 375 years old! Planning for the celebrations will be getting underway soon – stay tuned!
Dangerous Ice Conditions: Please stay away from the frozen harbor and discourage anyone from thinking it is safe to venture onto. The harbor is very different from a frozen pond. With tides and the natural movement of sea water and ice, it is extremely dangerous.
Annual Town Meeting Preparations: While April may seem a long way off, the deadline for citizen petition articles is January 31, 60 days prior to the April 2 meeting. A minimum of 10 signatures from registered voters is needed to submit a petition article. Petition articles must be submitted to the Town Clerk’s Office for signature verification. Both the Town Administrator and the Town Moderator are available to assist with any questions you may have.
Recreational Marijuana Facilities in MBTS: We’d like to hear from you regarding recreational marijuana establishments in Manchester by the Sea. Representatives of the Board of Selectman, the Board of Health, and the Planning Board will be hosting two listening sessions for townspeople to raise their concerns. The first session was held on December 4th. The second session is scheduled for Saturday January 27th, 9:00-10:30 am at the Manchester Community Center. Resident participation is essential in developing future policy. Please join us. Your opinion is needed. We’ll be there to listen and discuss future options.
