BOS WEEKLY UPDATE – February 7, 2019
Your Photos are Needed! We are putting together the Town’s Annual Report and we welcome your photos from the past year that depict events of note. Please look through your photos from 2018 and send along a few with a description of the photograph. You can send them electronically to our Executive Assistant, Sonja Nathan at firstname.lastname@example.org
New Streetlights: The cobra head streetlights in town have the new LED bulbs installed. The smaller lamppost lights will be done soon as well. With the much higher efficiency lights we will be saving tens of thousands of dollars a year in annual electric costs. The installation of the new fixtures is being funded by a Green Communities grant we received from the state.
Water Valve Replacement Work: Work will continue on replacing old valves under School and Central Street. The work will necessitate road or lane closures. Weather will determine the exact schedule and updates can be found on the DPW’s page on the Town’s web site.
Town Meeting petition articles: Two citizen petitions were submitted for the Annual Town Meeting scheduled for April 1st. Voters will be asked to vote on a non-binding article as to whether the Town should continue to add fluoride to our drinking water. In the other article, voters will be asked whether to ban plastic and polystyrene products from food-related establishments in town. More details to come!
