BOS WEEKLY UPDATE – July 11, 2019

Board and Committee Vacancies:  Our local government depends on the generous contribution of time from resident volunteers.  We are very grateful to all of our volunteers.  We currently have openings on the Animal Control Board, the Board of Appeals, the Cultural Council and the Welcome to Manchester committee. We also have a vacancy on the Planning Board, normally an elected position.  Filling a vacancy until the next town election in April is done through a joint appointment process by the Selectmen and the Planning Board.  Application deadline is July 16 with interviews and appointment slated for July 22.  Contact the Selectmen’s Office for additional information on all of our volunteer opportunities.

Inner Harbor Sewer Pipe Relining:  In one of the last major projects to lower the amount of unwanted water getting into our sewer system, the DPW is coordinating the relining of the sewer pipe that runs along the inner harbor in the coming weeks.  Impacted residents will be notified of the project and the days that their sewer flow will be interrupted. Previous efforts have resulted in the removal of thousands of gallons of unwanted infiltration and inflow into the system.

New Transient Dock space at Reed Park:  The expanded dock space at Reed Park is already a well-received addition to our harbor. Boaters still have the option of free dock space for visits under an hour but we now can accommodate longer stays, including overnight stays, for a fee.  Fees are collected through the on-line Dockwa app.

Tuesday night Concerts at Masconomo Park:  With the nice weather we are having be sure to enjoy the free concerts taking place every Tuesday evening through August 6 at Masco!  Check out the details at the Park and Recreation’s page on the Town’s web site.

Trash, Recycling, Compost: Normal Monday and Tuesday collections. Remember, do not place your recycled materials in a plastic bag or add any plastic bags to your recycling bin!
