BOS WEEKLY UPDATE – September 5, 2019

Thank you to our summer staff!  With September upon us our summer seasonal staff wrapped up their time with us after a busy and successful season.  Beach attendance was up this year with nearly every weekend being sunny and warm.  The Summer Program finished strong as well, also with some of the highest attendance numbers to date.  We thank all the staff for their hard work and we hope to welcome many of them back next summer.

Study Committees underway:  Two citizen groups are meeting to assist staff on two projects.  One is a review of speed limits town-wide, with special attention to regulatory speeds the Town had set years ago verses the new town-wide limit of 25MPH and to the 20MPH Safety Zone established as a mile radius from the Train Station. The other group is assessing the option of locating a new Harbor Master Office/Maritime facility near the harbor either at Masconomo Park or Reed Park.  Interim Police Chief Todd Fitzgerald is heading up the effort on the speed limit review and Town Planner Sue Brown is facilitating the maritime facility option with assistance from Harbor Master Bion Pike.

Volunteer Opportunities: There is an opening on the Cultural Council as well as openings on the Animal Control Board. Please contact Sonja Nathan at 978-526-2000 or at nathans@manchester.ma.us. if you are interested or need further information.

Trash, Recycling, Compost:  Regular Monday and Tuesday pick-ups; Please remember NOT to use plastic bags for your recycled goods!
