The FY18 Preliminary Town Budget was presented to the Selectmen and the Finance Committee at a joint public meeting on Monday, December 12. The cost of General Government Operations is slated to increase 2 percent next year. The Manchester Essex Regional School District preliminary budget public hearing will be held at 7pm at the middle/high school on Wednesday, December 14, at which an increase of 3.7 percent in expenditures will be presented. Both the Town and School budgets will undergo further review before coming to the voters at the April Annual Town Meeting.
The Finance Committee will meet at Town Hall on Tuesday, December 20 at 7pm to discuss FY18 budgets and identify areas for further exploration.
The Selectmen seek to fill the following volunteer vacancies: Library Trustee and Zoning Board of Appeals member. Interested residents are asked to submit a letter of interest to the Selectmen’s office or complete a volunteer form on the Town website this week.
The Master Plan Committee presented its draft Vision Plan to a joint meeting of the Selectmen and Finance Committee on Monday, December 12. The Board of Selectmen adopted the Vision Plan, and the Planning Board will review and vote in their next meeting. The document will be posted on the Town website once approved.
The town-wide water ban remains in effect. Please conserve water and honor the outdoor watering ban. No washing of cars, driveways or sidewalks.
Trash, recycling and kitchen compost are collected weekly on appointed collection days. Please place bins at the curb no later than 7am. Starting January 15, prices for orange trash bags will increase to $2 (small) and $3 (large).
