The Board of Assessors has received Preliminary Certification from the Department of Revenue on the new assessments proposed for FY2010. The new assessments will be available for review by taxpayers starting September 28, 2009 through October 8, 2009, at the Assessor’s Office on our counter terminal or on our website, www.manchester.ma.us, and then go to our FY10 Proposed assessment link.
We hope to receive Final Certification and have our Classification hearing by the middle of November. That will give us time to get the tax rate approved and the tax bills printed and mailed by the end of December.
The new assessments are based on 2008 sales. We are required by law to assess at “Fair Market Value”. The State Certifies our values every three years.
