CHRISTMAS TREE SHOP TRIP 2/3/2012
The Manchester Council on Aging is offering a trip to the Christmas Tree Shop in Lynnfield on February 3rd. The Council on Aging van will begin to pick up at 11:00 and return is expected around 2:30 p.m. Please call the Council on Aging office to sign up or for more information. (978) 526-7500. A donation of $3 is requested where able.
CHAIR MASSAGE FOR SENIOR CITIZENS 2/3/2012
The Manchester Council on Aging is pleased to offer chair massages once a month for senior citizens starting February 3rd at the Plains Community Room. Appointments will be made every 10 minutes starting at 10:00 a.m. The cost for a massage is $5 for a five minute massage or $1 per minute is payable at the appointment.
Appointments are necessary and can be made by calling the Council on Aging office. Please call the COA for more information or to schedule an appointment. Walk-ins will be allowed, but you may have to to wait. The COA van will be available for transportation. (978) 526-7500
LUNCH AT THE LOG BRIDGE INN 2/8/2012
The Manchester Council on Aging is invited to The Log Bridge Inn for a luncheon on Wednesday, February 8th. The Log Bridge Inn is a student-run restaurant at the North Shore Technical High School in Middleton. The cost of the luncheon is $8 per senior citizen and prepayment and reservations must be made by January 30th. This trip is limited to the first 12 seniors who sign up. The Council on Aging van will start picking up senors at 10:45 a.m. and return should be around 12:45 p.m. Please call the COA office for more information or to reserve your seat. (978) 526-7500
COUNCIL ON AGING TO THE MALLS 2/10/12
On Friday, February 10th, the Manchester Council on Aging van will be going to the Peabody and Danvers Malls. Seniors can pick between the North Shore Mall and the Liberty Tree Mall. A donation of $3 is requested. The van will start picking up seniors around 9:30 a.m. For further information or to reserve your seat on the van, please call the COA office at 978-526-7500.
LOW VISION GROUP 2/13/2012
The Low Vision Support group will meet on Monday, February 13th at 1:30 p.m. at the Plains Community Room. All are welcome for this hour or so of conversation regarding low vision and issues related to vision.
This meeting will explore the basics of vision loss. All are encouraged to bring their tips and resources so we can swap information. This meeting will be a preparation for the upcoming visit from the STORE at the Carroll Center for the Blind.

MYSTERY RIDE 2/14/2012
On Tuesday, February 14th, the Manchester Council on Aging van will take our monthly mystery ride. The van driver heads for an undisclosed establishment somewhere on the North Shore; it could be ice cream, pastries, sandwiches - only the van driver knows! A little hint will be given, so all can be prepared! THE LYMAN ESTATE GREENHOUSES AND THE CHATEAU RESTAURANT 2/23/2012
The Manchester Council on Aging is pleased to announce a trip on Thursday, February 23rd to the Lyman Estate Greenhouses and lunch at The Chateau Restaurant in Waltham. The greenhouse tour will include the celebrated collection of camelias in the 1820 camelia house, the 1840 orchard house, the 1804 grape house and a 1930 sales house where visitors can purchase plants to take home. The greenhouses are a reminder of fascination with horticulture prevalent among wealthy 19th century Bostonians. The Chateau Restaurant offers a wide variety of luncheon choices, including wraps, Panini's, burgers & daily house specialties. The cost of the Lyman Greenhouse tour is $5, and the luncheon is "on your own". Reservations and prepayment are necessary for this trip by February 17th. Please call the

"THE WRITE TIME" 3/6/2012
The Manchester Council on Aging is offering a writing class starting on Tuesday, March 6th at the Manchester Community Center from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Katherine F. Robertson, local author will lead the six week class for up to 10 participants. Learn to write short stories and /or memoirs using writing prompts. This class will be fun, mentally stimulating and promote lots of laughter! Please bring pens, pencils and paper. The class cost is $35 for the six weeks, payable to the instructor. "ROMEO AND JULIET" AT STONEHAM THEATRE 3/7/2012
The Manchester Council on Aging is pleased to offer a trip to the Stoneham Theatre for a matinee production of Romeo & Juliet on Wednesday, March 7th.
"Two households both alike in dignity. Two families in conflict. When children act on their parents' grievances, and teens flame with the passion of first love, unintended consequences can devastate. Ten professional actors will team up with ten members of the young theatre company to explore this timeless story of love and conflict not only between families but within them."

BOSTON FLOWER AND GARDEN SHOW 3/15/2012
The Manchester Council on Aging is offering a trip to the Boston Flower & Garden Show at the Seaport World Trade Center on Thursday, March 15th. From the first-time gardener to the greenest green thumb, the Boston Flower and Garden Show will provide the tools and inspiration to kick off the season in style! The discounted ticket price is $16, and we have 20 tickets available to be sold on a first come first served basis.
