The meeting was called to order at 5:35 P.M. by Chairman Steve Gillespie. The Board reviewed the minutes of the October 8, 2008 meeting. Janet Groth-Turner moved to accept the minutes; Bob Howard seconded the motion and all members voted in favor.
Director’s Report: The October memo to the Board of Selectmen shows a wide range of COA activities, events and trips offered to Manchester Seniors. Participation continues to be high and enthusiastic. Linda Kiley’s Senior Halloween Party with the Memorial School Kindergarten was especially appreciated. All intergenerational events, such as the recent Apple Pie Social, are popular.
Lower gas prices continue to help the COA budget. When the Town builds a fuel facility, gasoline will be less expensive.
Due to driver illness some October trips had to be rescheduled.
Friend’s Report: The Quilt Show was a great success. Eighty-one quilts were on display at the Congregational Church, the luncheon was well attended, and the Friends raised $1100.00 for the benefit of the COA..
The final proof of the new Town phone book is ready and the directory will be on sale before Christmas.
New Business: The Holiday Lunch and Party will be held at the Legion on December 17. Dick Lysiak will do the catering and because the Friends are partially supporting the event, tickets will only be $12.00.
Bob Howard moved to adjourn the meeting at 5:47 P.M.; Joslyn Becker seconded the motion and all members were in favor.
Respectfully submitted,
Joslyn Becker
