Manchester Council On Aging (COA)
Executive Board Meeting
February 11, 2009
Members Present: Steve Gillespie, Janet Groth-Turner, Bob Howard, Linda Kiley, Su Kwedor, Marie
Lopresti and Joslyn Becker
Members Absent: Susana Thompson
Staff Present: Nancy Hammond and Leslie Davidson
Friends of the COA Present: Martha Elder
The meeting was called to order at 5:35 P.M. by Chairman Steve Gillespie. The Board reviewed the minutes of the January 14, 2009 meeting. Linda Kiley moved to accept the minutes; Su Kwedor seconded the motion and all members voted in favor.
Director’s Report: January was a very quiet month because many activities were cancelled due to
bad weather. Despite the snow, “The Lunch of the Month”, catered by Kelley’s Famous Roast Beef Sandwiches, was a huge success.
Nancy met with the Finance Committee during January. The COA budget is in line at the half way point of the fiscal year.
A third van driver has been hired on a per diem basis. He is willing to drive to Boston events using the second van.
TRIAD has issued a Phishing scam warning. E-mail or web site solicitations for personal information should be ignored until the credibility of the source has been verified. TRIAD will begin issuing medical reminder sheets for doctor visits in the near future and will also present a medication disposal program at the March “Lunch of the Month”.
Manchester will soon have a food pantry courtesy of the Beverly Bootstraps Community Services.
Friend’s Report: There was no January meeting but phone book sales continued to be strong. The Friends are considering funding half of the cost of the popular Lunch of the Month program.
Old Business: Nancy reminded the Board of the Valentine’s Day Dance on February 15 at the American Legion Post. Finger food donations are needed. Martha will contact the Friends.
Bob Howard moved to adjourn the meeting at 5:55. Marie Lopresti seconded the motion and all members were in favor.
Respectfully submitted,
Joslyn Becker
