Director’s Report: Nancy Hammond reported that COA summer activities had been very popular, especially the July and August barbecues. She recently sent the schedule of twenty fall events/trips to the Board of Selectmen. The schedule was also shared with the Board.
The Triad Council met during the summer to prepare for the official by-law signing on September 30, 2008. The event will be held at the Manchester American Legion Post 113. Picture ID cards will be made and distributed to seniors; lunch will follow at 12:15.
Nancy directed the Board’s attention to the August 2008 draft Committee Handbook for the Town of Manchester-by-the-Sea. The handbook describes elected and appointed officials’ responsibilities as well as those of town boards, committees and commissions. The purpose of the handbook is to educate and enlist volunteers for the town. Nancy urged the Board members to read the draft and prepare comments for the October 8 meeting.
The Director welcomed new Board members Sue Kwedor and Marie Lopresti and congratulated Steve Gillespie on his position as Chairman of the COA Board.
The Friends of the COA have nearly completed the town phonebook. It should go on sale by December 1, 2008.
