Manchester Council on Aging
Executive Board Meeting
March 10, 2010
Members Present: Bob Howard, Marie Lopresti, Susana Thompson, Linda Kiley and Su Kwedor.
Members Absent: Steve Gillespie, Janet Groth-Turner and Kerianne Walsh-Leonard.
Staff Present: Nancy Hammond and Michele Daly
Friends of the COA Present: None
The meeting was called to order at 5:34 by Bob Howard. the Board reviewed the Minutes of the December 10, 2009 meeting. Bob voted to accept the minutes; the motion was seconded and all were in favor.
Director's Report: Nancy handed out copies of the budget, which is in line. She informed the board that Frank Wood is out after knee replacement surgery, but will be returning on Monday with crutches.
Nancy reports that the vans are always busy and that Monday is the only day that they're not needed. There are many new riders who wish to go for therapy at the Center for Balance at Gordon College. There are typically 7 or 8 people going back and forth to Gordon each week. Nancy is planning to meet with the director, Marie Lucy, on Wednesday. This program is funded through grants, donations and memberships.
There will be a St. Patrick's Day concert on Saturday, March 13th, at 4 p.m. at the Crowell Chapel.
Michele Daly was introduced to the board. Best of luck with your new job, Michele. it's nice to have you! Both Nancy and Michele are extremely busy and working hard to meet the needs of our seniors. Thank you!
New Business: Nancy is wondering if we should consider doing a yard sale this year....possibly in May? She will check with Sacred Heart Church and the American Legion, in that order, for availability.
There will not be a Health Fair this year but will be continued on an every other year basis.
Friends Report: There were no members present.
Old Business: A question was raised about the condition of the vans. They were purchased in 2006 and "little things are starting to go". They each have around 40,000 miles on them presently. It is felt that perhaps we should start the grant process now as it could take up to two and a half years to complete. Nancy will call Congressman John Tierney's office.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:52.
The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 14th at 5:30 PM.
