Executive Board Metting
October 14, 2009



Members Present:  Steve Gillespie, Bob Howard, Linda Kiley and Su Kwedor
Members Absent:   Joslyn Becker, Janet Groth-Turner, Marie Lopresti and Susana Thompson
Staff Present:  Nancy Hammond
Friends of COA Present:  No one

The meeting was called to order at 5:30 by Chairman, Steve Gillespie.  The Board reviewed the minutes of the September 9, 2009 meeting.   The Minutes were accepted.

Director’s Report:  Nancy informed the Board that Leslie Davidson has accepted a full time position at the Beverly office of the census bureau as a Manager of Administration.  Nancy is currently reviewing applications for a new Administrative Assistant for the COA.

There have been over 200 more van rides taken than in the same period last year.  Tomorrrow 12 people will be driven to Market Basket in Gloucester 9 the van will have to make 2 runs).  There is also a regular run to Godon College to the Wellness Cneter twice a week every week.  On the same note, a 10/hour/week position for a van driver has been added and Sam DeCaro, a retired mailman, is the new driver.  Tom Andrews is the other drive at 14 hours per week.

The Town Administrator has asked all department heads to make a list of their goals.  Nancy has submitted hers which will be given to the Selectmen for their review.

The Craft Fair has been cancelled due to lack of interest.

There is a Coach Bus trip being planned to the Newport Mansions.  The town of Marblehead would like to join us and share the expense of the trip through Fox Tours.

On December 9th there is a trip planned by Coach bus to see the Christmas lights at LaSalette Shrine in Attleboro and also to Wright’s Chicken Farm (near Lincoln, RI).

Save the date!!!  December 19th there will be a Christmas concert at Crwell Chapel of Victorian Carolers from 4-5 PM.  We will ask the Friends to sponsor it.

The Norminating Committee met at Town Hall on October 9th at 9:30 AM.  The following officers have been appointed:

                Vice President: Bob Howard
                Secretary:              Su Kwedor

There will be no COA Board Meeting in November.  The next meeting will be on Wednesday, December 9th!
