WELCOME TO THE MANCHESTER SUMMER PLAYGROUND!

We hope that your involvement at the Summer Playground will be a rewarding experience for you. We will be working closely together this summer on leadership skills, personal growth, taking initiative, and many more skills to come! This experience is a large responsibility, but also a great privilege when you realize the effect you have on the lives of the children in our care!

COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING PROGRAM
CITs will attend at least 25 morning sessions throughout the summer. This choice can be made at the discretion of the CIT, but will be advised by the CIT coordinator as to which days will be required due to large attendances.

• The Summer Playground Staff, including CIT's, work under the direct supervision of the Co-Director's of the Summer Playground program. All problems and questions relating to the CIT program must be directed to the CIT Coordinator and the Directors of the Summer Playground.

• As with any Summer Playground employee, the main responsibility of each CIT is to make sure that the “kiddies” have healthful, enjoyable, & safe experiences while at Playground.

• Each CIT must be tactful, courteous, have a pleasant attitude, be willing to do his/her job, and be attentive to his/her duties.

• CITs must be prompt in reporting each day. CITs must check-in and check-out each day, and notify the Director's in advance when he/she will not be in attendance.

• CITs must set a good example when dealing with kiddies, parents, other CITs, and Summer Playground staff and directors.

• CITs must not make unauthorized personal comments to the general public or the press regarding an accident, department policies, or fellow Summer Playground staff.

• As a CIT, do what you can, as best you can, and go as far as you can, then consult a supervising staff member.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Help the Summer Playground staff members with their assigned groups and activities.

• Stay with the group at all times and be responsible for the health and safety of the children.

• Attend all CIT meetings.

• Assist at off-site events and trips.


QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 15 years old prior to the start of the Summer Playground program

• Ability to relate to children of all ages

• Experience leading activities with groups of children

• Creativity.

• Willingness to learn and assist.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

• The use of good judgment, patience, and understanding is expected in all dealings with the children, parents, and staff.

• Enjoy what you are doing and let this feeling show to the kiddies and Playground staff.

NOTE: The position of CIT in the Manchester Summer Playground does not guarantee a position as Program Instructor in the following years.
