Testing of Manchester's water includes testing for process control of the treatment system and mandated testing for regulated compounds and micro-organisms.
Process control testing is testing done to ensure that the treatment process is working properly and efficiently. It includes on-line meters which continuously monitor and record selected parameters 24 hours per day as well as "grab" samples taken periodically during treatment to verify dosages. Parameters tested include turbidity, temperature, pH, chlorine, orthophosphate, iron, manganese, aluminum, and fluoride. Records of these tests are maintained at the treatment plant, and the results are forwarded monthly to the State.
Mandated testing is testing conducted to comply with drinking water regulations. Mandated testing includes the following tests:
All of the tests are conducted by laboratories certified by the State for conducting water testing. Sampling and test procedures used also conform to State regulations and best operating practices.
Results for all testing are available on written request from the DPW office.
