BOS WEEKLY UPDATE – May 24, 2018
Pleasant Street Paving: Work on the water line crossings on Pleasant Street will be re-done during the last week in May and the first week in June. The water line crossings are being milled out and repaved now that the trench work has settled. Expect detours for through-traffic.
Round-about Trial: The test of the round-about continues at the Pine/Central/Bridge/Bennett intersection. All traffic should yield to those already in the circle. New yield signs are now up. After the trial period a short survey will be available to assess reaction to the proposed change that the Downtown Improvement Committee has advanced. Have an observation to share? Feel free to send an email to the DPW or Selectmen’s office.
Goal Setting Session planned: The Selectmen will be meeting on the 29th in a special meeting to identify the top priorities for the coming fiscal year that begins July 1. What would be at the top of your list? We would love to hear your ideas.
Streetlight Conversion Project: Progress continues as the inventory of lights is now completed, bids from manufacturers are being reviewed and plans for installation by the end of the summer are refined. We are waiting for the final paperwork from National Grid to take over ownership of the lights. The new LED fixtures with dimmable controls will enable us to realize substantial savings in our streetlight account.
Beach and Resident Stickers: Beach stickers will be available for purchase at the bathhouse this holiday weekend, 10AM – 2PM Saturday and Sunday. .
Trash, Recycling, and Compost pick up: Delayed pick up by one day due to the Memorial Day holiday
