BOS WEEKLY UPDATE – August 8, 2019
Upcoming Meetings: Our next board meeting is August 19th. Starting at 7:30 we will be joined by our colleagues in Essex for a presentation on shared service opportunities between Essex and the School District. To be included in the discussion is the possibility of moving forward with a School Resource Officer along with a series of other new recommendations for greater collaboration. With the Labor Day holiday our first meeting in September will be on Tuesday, September 3.
Board of Health vacancy: We are in need of a volunteer to serve on the five member BOH. The Board has a range of responsibilities including food licensing/inspections, housing inspections, household hazardous waste collection day, beach water quality testing, mosquito control and surveillance, Title 5 Septic System reviews and approvals, animal inspection and rabies prevention, public health nursing, flu vaccination clinics, public health emergency planning, tobacco sales licensing and inspections, and the licensing and inspection of recreational camps for children. The Board is looking for candidates who have either a background in medicine or engineering. Anyone interested should contact Sonja Nathan, Executive Assistant, Selectmen/Town Administrator, Nathans@manchester.ma.us
Calling local artists! Each year the Accounting department puts together the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) – an audit and annual review of our finances. This award winning document uses local art work throughout the pages to provide a nice counterpart to the spreadsheets contained in the report. Interested in contributing to the upcoming report? Contact Town Accountant Andrea Mainville at MainvilleA@manchester.ma.us
Trash, Recycling, Compost: Normal Monday and Tuesday collections. Remember, do not place your recycled materials in a plastic bag or add any plastic bags to your recycling bin!
