Budget season kicks off this month. In October, department heads will formulate the FY18 requests, and the Board of Selectmen and Finance Committee will meet jointly to review the Facility Planning Report. In November, Finance Committee liaisons, the Town Administrator and Accountant will all meet with department heads to formulate a preliminary budget. Stay tuned for updates, a timeline and access to documents on the soon-to-come Budget page on the Town website.
Preliminary results of the Master Plan community survey will be published later this week with a final report to come by the end of October. The Master Plan Committee (MPC) will share its draft Vision Plan with town boards, committees and the pubic to solicit feedback before finalizing in December. The Vision Plan will be the foundation for Master Plan goals and recommendations to be worked on over the winter. The MPC will continue to facilitate and advance community discussions throughout the Master Planning process this fall and winter, and neighborhood meetings provide a great opportunity for sharing information and obtaining important feedback on priorities and spending options. Neighbors in the Raymond Street area will be gathering this month with several members of the MPC. A public hearing on parking changes will be held as part of the Board of Selectmen’s meeting scheduled for Monday, October 17. Proposed parking restrictions for Putnam Court will be discussed in addition to reviews of the parking changes enacted over the summer.
The Affordable Housing Trust will hold its second meeting at 7pm on Tuesday, October 18 in Town Hall meeting room #5.
Despite recent rain, the town-wide water ban continues. Please conserve water and honor the outdoor watering ban. No washing of cars, driveways and sidewalks. Hand-watering of plants and yards 5pm – 8am ONLY.
By order of the Fire Chief, all open burning is prohibited. No campfires, open flame cooking fires or recreational fires. This includes open fires on all town beaches, and is due to the unusually dry weather and dry fuel conditions. The use of charcoal cooking fires and gas cooking fires is allowed.
Trash, recycling and kitchen compost are now picked up weekly on appointed collection days. Please have bins at the curb no later than 7am.
